Ava Gardner Festival In Smithfield
The glamorous Hollywood movie star Ava Gardner was from Smithfield, North Carolina. Each year Smithfield celebrates by having the Ava Gardner Festival on the first weekend of October. This year it will be October 3-4, 2015. The festival celebrates Ava Gardner’s life and career. See Ava’s Closet, Ava’s homes, costumes, movie posters, tours, the Ava Gardner Heritage Trail, movies and more. The Ava Gardner Museum is open daily and offers a self guided tour with over 5,000 square-feet of exhibits.
Ava Gardner Museum and Festival
During the festival visitors will be shown points of interest in Ava’s hometown, including Ava’s birthplace, the Teacherage where she grew up, the Howell Theater where Ava first went to the movies, and the tour will end with a visit to her grave site at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield. During the Ava Gardner Festival classic Ava Gardner films will be shown. This year an exciting new exhibit will be opening! For all the Ava Gardner fans the Ava Gardner Festival in Smithfield is a must event.
The Ava Gardner Museum is located in downtown Smithfield, North Carolina in Johnston County.
The Ava Gardner Festival for 2015 is October 3-4, from 9:00am till 6:00pm each day.
